Breaking News Sketchbook
I've just finishef my 3rd "news sketchbook". It's a sketchbook where I draw stuff about the news, usually I open a newspaper article and draw the photograph (if there is one). But I also do collage from time to time. My main sources were BBC World News and the Guardian for English news, Libération and Le Monde for French news, and finally Diken and Cumhuriyet for Turkish news.

Stencils
I've finally moved on to the next level in stenciling: the miner is A3 and the soldier is composed of 2 A3 size stencils (that explains the thin white layer in the middle). They're both photographs, the miner is from Adam Hinton and the soldier is the famous shellshocked marine of Don McCullin. The marine took me a LOT of time and required a LOT of patience but it was absolutely worth it.

Humanity washes ashore...
I had to illustrate today's tragic photograph in my news sketchbook. The text says "humanity washes ashore", it was the title a turkish newspaper gave to this event.
Bugünün trajik fotoğrafını gündem defterime eklemeliydim. "Kıyıya vuran insanlık" bir gazetenin olaya verdiği başlıktı.

Stencil time!
I'm very fond of street art, especially stencil art. So with the time I had during the holidays I decided I'd give it a try. I got really motivated after seing Exit Through the Gift Shop yesterday, which is a wonderful documentary, a must-see if you like street art (you get to see Invader, Shepard Fairey and, most importantly, Banksy in action!). Anyway here's the result. There's more to come but I should buy a mask as soon as possible, the spray tortures my lungs...

The Creation of the World
Here's my submission for a drawing contest on Instagram. The subject was "Mythology". Therefore I made mine about the creation of the world according to Babylonian mythology.
In the beginning, there was only sweet water, named Apsu (on the left), and salt water, named Tiamat (on the right), accompanied by the god Mummu on the middle. Apsu and Tiamat then gave birth to the gods Anu, god of the heavens, and Ea, the god of Earth and water.
Apsu and Tiamat, the two water gods, were then disturbed by the noise of the younger gods (weird right?). So Apsu, who was really manly, decided to destroy them. However, Ea stepped first and slayed Apsu and Mummu. He also created an underground chamber in which his son, Marduk (called the "sun-child"), was born.
The enraged Tiamat (salt water) turned into a dragon and raised an army of monsters led by her champion Kingu against Ea and Marduk. Yet Marduk killed Tiamat by cutting her into two halves, which then formed the sky and the Earth . And the rivers Tigris and Euphrates sprang from her eyes (makes sense, I guess...).
This is where my drawing ends. I didn't have enough space to put in all the myth. But it goes like this: Marduk slays Kingu and takes the Tablets of Destiny (fastened to Kingu's breast). He uses it to create the cosmos. And finally, he creates mankind using Kingu's blood.

Short History of the Communist Party of Turkey
A short comic I made about the history of the Communist Party of Turkey, one of the oldest parties in the country and which played a key role in the 70s, during the rise of revolutionary movements in Turkey. My main influence was David B.
